About Us and Our Team
Real Strong Women is dedicated to empowering women through evidence-based fitness and education, with a specialist focus on pelvic health and core rehabilitation.
The business was founded by Vicki Causer, a passionate women's pelvic health and movement coach. The inspiration for Real Strong Women comes from Vicki’s own personal journey and subsequent recovery after giving birth to her children. After her second child, she received a diagnosis of Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) and was frustrated by the lack of clear, practical advice, often being fobbed off with comments like, "Well, you've had a baby, what do you expect?".
This failing of the postnatal care system sparked a career change for Vicki, who retrained after 18 years working in social care, probation, and prisons. Her mission became challenging the narrative around women’s bodies and helping others rebuild trust in their bodies' capabilities. Real Strong Women exists because Vicki believes that women "deserve better" than long wait times and poor communication regarding their health.
Real Strong Women stands out by offering a holistic, proactive, and expert-led approach to women’s health, setting us apart from conventional fitness and healthcare pathways:
- Specialist, Evidence-Based Coaching: We provide specialist coaching in women's pelvic health and core rehabilitation for women across all life stages, including pre and postnatal recovery, perimenopause, and menopause. Our approach is founded on the belief that there is always hope and a progressive way forward, regardless of diagnosis or life stage.
- Comprehensive, Holistic Programs: We move beyond the commonly recommended "Kegels" to implement a full-body approach. Our programs, such as the 'Strong Like a Woman' Programme, assess and address crucial factors like breathing mechanics, pelvic floor connection, pressure management in the system, nutrition, hydration, and stress levels—all of which impact pelvic health.
- Bridging the Healthcare Gap (The Mission): Vicki is actively working with health providers and GPs to establish a formal referral process. This aims to provide accessible support to women facing two- to four-year public wait lists for routine women's health physiotherapy and gynaecology appointments in some areas. We strive to be the bridge between a GP visit and potential long-term care.
- Empowering Community and Education: We create a supportive environment through small group strength training sessions (e.g., Resilience RX) and workshops. We also work to educate fitness professionals and coaches—male and female—to ensure that gym programming and training is adapted to the female body, acknowledging that 80% of gym-going women may have had a baby.
- Challenging the Taboo: A core philosophy is to openly discuss taboo subjects like incontinence, prolapse, and female anatomy to normalise women’s health issues. We emphasise that while issues like pelvic floor dysfunction are common (affecting 50% of women), they are not "normal" and do not have to be endured. We encourage women to keep seeking help and never be fobbed off with "women's things".
